Volunteer at the Thrift Store: Multiple opportunities

Brief description: Volunteering with our program is more than giving your time. It’s about showing up with empathy, listening without judgment, and standing beside someone during one of the most difficult moments of their life. It’s about helping create a space where healing can begin and where domestic violence survivors are reminded of their strength and worth. Together, we can make a difference! We accept volunteers of all ages, and those in need of service hours, too!

Location: 610 Shorter Ave NW, Rome, GA 30165

Hours: Tue to Sat 10am to 5pm - Monday 9 to 5pm

Women's hygiene items and toiletries: 

Single toothbrushes, toothpaste

African American Hair products: Hair grease, rubber bands, pink moisturizer

Kitchenware: containers with lids.

Comforters, pillows, sheets ( For twin beds)

Communities in Schools supports and recognizes the lack of Student Basic Needs that some of our community youth and families are dealing with. As such, CIS serves as a clearinghouse educational partner for schools who may need help in this area for their student body.

Items needed include canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, canned soups, pre-packaged/canned pastas, nutritious breakfast bars/items, cheese crackers, etc. In terms of hygiene supplies, we request soap, lotion, deodorant, shampoo, female items, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. Additionally, CIS will also kindly accept financial donations in which we can purchase items.      

You can be the difference in a child's life!  Just a small amount of your time can be so impactful!

Rome City Schools is looking for concerned individuals to serve as Mentors, Volunteers, Field Trip Chaperones, Classroom Readers, Field Day Helpers, Front Office/Media Center Helpers, etc.

A 30-45 minute-training is required as well as a background check.

If you volunteer multiple weeks, you may switch units based off of the sign-ups for that week. Age groups are based off of the participants age, but we do our best to place the volunteers in the most appropriate group.esp Rome holds Day Camp at Georgia Highlands College (Rome-Floyd Campus).

Fresh produce delivery & distribution Monday-Friday 1pm-2pm

A Teen’s Choice, Inc. purpose is to add value to each individual served through self-empowerment by focusing on building their self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth. With this in mind our mission is to help each individual develop their own identity and reach their full potential. The group and 1 on 1 mentor sessions we provide are tailored to suit the needs of the Northwest Georgia demographic that we serve. Our program provides a safe, structured, and engaging space where middle and high school students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Program Benefits Build self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth Learn foundation life skills like time management, communication, conflict resolution Receive academic tutoring and studying support Learn from local leaders and mentors.

YMCA will need a team of 5-7 volunteers each time slot. Produce sorting will take place on the back side of the building. Volunteers will see the box trucks and YMCA team members there and can park in the front parking lot and walk around the building.

Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful proudly hosts an annual family gardening event designed to bring families together through hands-on learning, community connection, and environmental stewardship. This interactive event teaches proper gardening practices while helping families gain confidence in growing their own food and becoming more self-sufficient.

Children and families participate in live planting demonstrations, educational activities, crafts, and take-home gardening experiences that make learning fun and accessible for all ages. Through the support of community partners, volunteers, and local organizations, families also enjoy free resources, giveaways, and opportunities to connect with valuable community services.

At the heart of this event is a commitment to addressing food insecurity within our community by empowering families with practical skills, knowledge, and encouragement. Our goal is to continue growing this event each year to better meet the needs of Rome and Floyd County while cultivating community pride, confidence, and healthier lifestyles.

Throughout the year, Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful mobilizes volunteers for a variety of service projects across the City of Rome and Floyd County. Staying hydrated during these events is extremely important, especially during the hot summer months. Our service efforts never stop, and we greatly appreciate any donations of bottled water to help support our volunteers

We are collecting snacks to have at our graduation from the C.A.S.H. Program: 

The CASH Program exists to equip students with career skills, certifications, and real-world training. Participants gain hands-on experience in various career fields while learning financial literacy and workforce readiness skills. Plus, participants earn $300 upon program completion!

We are looking for new & slightly used equipment to support our boys program:

Throughout the summer months, A Teen's Choice will need art supplies & creative materials to support activities for our teens to express themselves artistically as well as make things for others. 

High-Five Society is currently seeking compassionate, dependable individuals interested in helping strengthen and grow our organization through leadership, organization, and community involvement opportunities. Current needs include: • Secretary/Administrative Support • Committee Leaders • Program Support Teams • Event Coordination Assistance • Community Outreach Support • Fundraising & Sponsorship Assistance As our organization continues to grow, we are working toward building dedicated committees for our various programs and initiatives, including inclusive social events, parent support opportunities, educational outreach, community partnerships, and fundraising efforts. Secretary/Administrative Support responsibilities may include: • Assisting with meeting notes and organizational records • Helping maintain communication and scheduling • Supporting event and program coordination • Assisting with organizational planning and documentation • Helping improve structure and organization as High-Five Society grows Ideal individuals are organized, compassionate, dependable, community-minded, and passionate about inclusion and supporting families within underserved communities. Previous nonprofit or leadership experience is appreciated but not required.

Assist with setup, cleanup, registration tables, activities, crafts, games, food stations, and helping families during inclusive community events.
