We need helping hands who are able to support cleaning cages, cleaning litter boxes, refilling food and water bowls, running the laundry, organizing supply areas, washing food & water bowls, sweeping the floors, and administrative tasks. Volunteers need to wash hands frequently and utilize gloves that are provided for the health and wellbeing of the cats.

The ideal volunteer is someone who can take instructions and complete tasks with all safety procedures followed. Cats are both kenneled for their health and safety as well as free roaming. In some areas, there are cats who like to "help" with tasks. There will be time to cuddle kitties once the work has been completed.

This location is not ADA accessible and requires physical lifts, bending, stooping, repetitive motion, and strict sanitary expectations. Most of the jobs will require standing for the majority of the time. Those who have allergies to animals, should not volunteer. 

*NOTE: THIS IS NOT FOR COURT ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE.  Volunteer with us at the Rome Emperor's (formerly known as Rome Braves) concession stand. In exchange for us staffing the stands we will receive 15% of all proceeds made from the stand. This is a great way to get involved with Habitat without lifting a hammer! Volunteers must be 14 years old or older. Volunteers need to be at the stadium 2 hours prior to game time for set up which is accounted for in the start time of this event. .

Tasks will include: running the registers (card only), taking orders, getting drinks, handing out food, and taking inventory. *cooks are provided.

We will announce clean ups and work days through emails and on our Facebook page. Each volunteer cleaning the river will need their own kayak, paddle and PFD, or they may work on land at a launch site. We will work out transportation amongst the volunteers who show up; we will not usually have an official shuttle. Most of the work is picking up trash and clearing underbrush. We welcome skilled labor for installing walkways, landscaping, or constructing launches.

The old Midway Primary School - YMCA will need a team of 5-7 volunteers each time slot. Produce sorting will take place on the back side of the building. Volunteers will see the box trucks and YMCA team members there and can park in the front parking lot and walk around the building.

* Be at least 21 years old and pass screening and background check requirements.

* Be able to make a 12-month minimum commitment to a case. (An average of 10-15 hours per month)

* Be able to keep information confidential and work within established program guidelines.

* Be moderately computer-savvy.

Brief description: Volunteering with our program is more than giving your time. It’s about showing up with empathy, listening without judgment, and standing beside someone during one of the most difficult moments of their life. It’s about helping create a space where healing can begin and where domestic violence survivors are reminded of their strength and worth. Together, we can make a difference! We accept volunteers of all ages, and those in need of service hours, too!

Communities in Schools supports and recognizes the lack of Student Basic Needs that some of our community youth and families are dealing with. As such, CIS serves as a clearinghouse educational partner for schools who may need help in this area for their student body.

Items needed include canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, canned soups, pre-packaged/canned pastas, nutritious breakfast bars/items, cheese crackers, etc. In terms of hygiene supplies, we request soap, lotion, deodorant, shampoo, female items, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. Additionally, CIS will also kindly accept financial donations in which we can purchase items.      

You can be the difference in a child's life!  Just a small amount of your time can be so impactful!

Rome City Schools is looking for concerned individuals to serve as Mentors, Volunteers, Field Trip Chaperones, Classroom Readers, Field Day Helpers, Front Office/Media Center Helpers, etc.

A 30-45 minute-training is required as well as a background check.

Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful proudly hosts an annual family gardening event designed to bring families together through hands-on learning, community connection, and environmental stewardship. This interactive event teaches proper gardening practices while helping families gain confidence in growing their own food and becoming more self-sufficient.

Children and families participate in live planting demonstrations, educational activities, crafts, and take-home gardening experiences that make learning fun and accessible for all ages. Through the support of community partners, volunteers, and local organizations, families also enjoy free resources, giveaways, and opportunities to connect with valuable community services.

At the heart of this event is a commitment to addressing food insecurity within our community by empowering families with practical skills, knowledge, and encouragement. Our goal is to continue growing this event each year to better meet the needs of Rome and Floyd County while cultivating community pride, confidence, and healthier lifestyles.

Throughout the year, Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful mobilizes volunteers for a variety of service projects across the City of Rome and Floyd County.
