High-Five Society

Who We Are

High-Five Society is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in Polk County, Georgia, dedicated to creating inclusive communities for individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodiverse individuals, and their families. We believe every person deserves to feel accepted, valued, supported, and included — regardless of ability level, diagnosis, or support needs. What began as a small community effort and our first social event in February 2022 quickly grew into something much bigger as families throughout the area expressed the need for more local support, inclusive opportunities, and meaningful connection. High-Five Society officially received 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in July 2023 and has continued growing ever since. At our core, we are a judgement-free community focused on inclusion, compassion, advocacy, and family support. We strive to create spaces where individuals of all abilities can build friendships, participate in meaningful activities, and feel a true sense of belonging while families feel seen, supported, and less alone in their journey. High-Five Society was founded on the belief that underserved and rural communities deserve access to inclusive programs, community connection, resources, and support systems close to home. Through collaboration, education, and community involvement, we are working to help bridge gaps in services and create a more accepting and inclusive future for all. Creating inclusive communities, one high five at a time.

What We Do

High-Five Society creates inclusive opportunities, support systems, and community connections for individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodiverse individuals, and their families throughout Polk County and surrounding areas. We host inclusive social events designed for individuals of all ages and abilities, providing safe and welcoming spaces where families can connect, build friendships, and feel a sense of belonging. Many of our events include sensory-friendly activities, crafts, games, community partnerships, and opportunities for neurotypical and neurodiverse individuals to interact and learn alongside one another. In addition to social programming, High-Five Society provides parent and caregiver support opportunities, educational outreach, resource-sharing, and advocacy efforts aimed at helping families navigate developmental disabilities and related challenges. We work to connect families with local and regional resources while promoting greater inclusion, acceptance, and accessibility throughout our community. Our organization also collaborates with local businesses, volunteers, schools, churches, and community partners to help bridge gaps in services and supports within underserved and rural areas. Through every program and event, our goal is simple: to create a judgement-free community where individuals of all abilities feel seen, supported, included, and celebrated.
